ultra sonic baths for bicycle chains?
We will show you in detail here why you need one and what you should be looking for when buying a ultra sonic bath
Why do you need it?
Ultrasonic baths serve a dual purpose:
1. Initial degreasing of the chain.
2. Cleaning waxed chains.
=> Further explained in the following.

Deeper cleaning with ultra sonic baths?
Generally, ultrasonic baths are always operated with water. However, for degreasing, a cleaner is added, such as the cleaning concentrate offered on the website.
It's important to note that the chains are always degreased beforehand with nitro thinner or brake cleaner. The ultrasonic bath with cleaning concentrate is not capable of cleaning heavily soiled components. The ultrasonic bath effectively removes the last 0.5%. Alternatively, jars with nitro thinner or brake cleaner can be placed in the ultrasonic bath. In this case, the heater must be turned off.

Clean a waxed chain with a ultra sonic bath
That is the primary benefit of an ultrasonic bath. To achieve the absolute minimum friction from the chain, it is necessary, even with waxed chains, to subject them to a thorough cleaning before a major race. For this purpose, an ultrasonic bath with a heating function of 80°C or higher is required. The water melts the wax, and the ultrasonic waves dissolve the old wax and, if applicable, dust.
How does it work?
By means of an ultrasonic generator, ultrasonic waves are generated and transmitted into the cleaning fluid through a vibrating system (similar to speakers). The rapid back-and-forth movement of the cleaning fluid results in a very quick pressure-impulse change within the fluid. Between the pressure and the suction wave, a vacuum is created, forming cavitation bubbles that subsequently implode. This process occurs throughout the entire ultrasonic bath, including on the surface of the workpiece. Contaminants are dislodged as a result. The cleaner ensures that the grease combines with the water.
