Steel on steel requires a lot of energy for one metal plate to slide over another. The graphite sits between the metal surfaces and shifts instead of the metal. This reduces wear on the chain and sprocket, saving energy during pedaling.

With a hot wax coating, you can achieve continuous mileage of 800 km - 1000 km. This is because hot wax can penetrate the chain even better and, unlike liquid wax, does not contain any water content. Water is used as a carrier medium in liquid wax, which reduces the maximum amount of wax that can be applied and thus ensures that the mileage with hot wax is more than twice as high.
